Blue Flame Spirits

Today I had the privilege to hang with owner Brian Morton and get a sneak peak of Prosser’s Blue Flame Spirits- Washington’s second commercial craft distillery. The Craft Distillery & Tasting Room (yes, I said tasting room) is located in Prosser’s Food & Wine Park on Lee Road- next door to Hogue Cellars, Alexandria Nicole Cellars, Heaven’s Cave, and just a short walk up from Mercer Estates and Kestrel Winery.
Vodka, Vodka, Vodka was talk in the shop today. With labels just approved and bottles (hand blown in Germany) to be delivered any day, Brian’s 2 year old vision for Blue Flame Spirits will come to SHAPE in two weeks with the first bottling of the hand numbered Vodka (number 1-1000)!! This first batch of Vodka is from a vineyard in the Roza Irrigation District just minutes away from the distillery. Cabernet & Merlot are the varietals used in the inaugural batch.
Brian is adamant about sourcing local ingredients for the spirits he’s producing and he gets very excited when explaining about the wheat which will be used in the upcoming batch of Gin- available by late September.
The near future for this commercial craft distillery is looking incredible with the larger, second still arriving in just two months. This new still will increase production and make Blue Flame Spirits not only a Pacific Northwest name but a name known along the whole West Coast. Gin is next on the production list- ready in September, qui
ckly followed by Brandy- expected by New Years.
The low down on buying Blue Flame Spirits… they will be available in Washington State Liquor stores, killer restaurants like Picazo 7Seventeen, the Prosser Tasting Room (2 bottles per day per person limit) and always remember to check www.blueflamespirits.com for the most up to date info on releases. Also in the making is a Martini Dinner planned for the fall (Yes, featuring Blue Flame Spirits and yours truly!)
